I have a great collection of mailbox pictures from the recycled (think microwaves, paint tins, computer frames) to the quirky (frogs, kangaroos, zebras, mermaids) to the bizarre ( bicycle parcel tray, boat motor casing, and a toilet seat) Expect to hear more in my latest book, “Junk Mail Princess”. One day I will get around to doing a post on this too.
Thanks for the prompt.
I wish I had a photo of my grandparents mail box from a citrus farm in Kulnura, NSW to share. It was reminiscent of this one so seeing your photo brought back some great memories. There is definitely an art to the great rural mailbox and I have seen some very creative interpretations over time. I think it would make a fantastic collection of photos so will remember to snap a photo next time I see one! Ruth recently posted..Getting falsies in Thailand
I so wish you had a photo of your grandparents’ mail box too, as I’d love to see it!
And yes – Mail boxes would make a great collection of photos – They’re often an expression of Aussie-ingenuity at its best…
Ours is the grass collector off a lawn mower 😉
Lovely, I always like natural-looking homeware, and this actually seems to be not just “looking” but genuinely “natural” 😉
I had someone comment on Twiiter how Aussies have been re-cyclers forever!

I was just about to say – Wow – You MUST do a post on that it’d be amazing! 🙂
