17th November 1878 – 52nd day

“Joey woke up at 6 & found himself in darkness having been boarded up during the night by the 3rd mate who is always serving up some trick or another. Breakfast at 8; we are getting along fine style today. 9 knots an hour. Passed a vessel this afternoon – one of our old friends I dare say. Being Sunday there was very little doing all day.
